These tours are designed to give you an excellent opportunity to photograph and/or write about the rich diversity of a place under the guidance of a professional. Programs maximise opportunities for story telling with images and/or with words. Whether you seek to produce material for personal expression only, for publication or for your studies, the challenge will be to understand the context, frame your story and transcend clichés. Participants will be encouraged to explore a range of themes such as street life, architecture, landscape, the side of the road, the ancient past and impact of tourism etc.
Before visiting each location you will be presented with the main features for ideas and strategies on how to engage in 'active observation' with a camera and a notebook. To assist with formulating your stories and pictures, short informative talks will be given by your tour leader at relevant locations. Discussions will also be held on a range of technical and ethical issues including visual representation, interviewing & observation strategies, writing styles and photographic techniques.
