ASA Lecture & Event Series
Australians Studying Abroad offers a rich and informative program of public illustrated lectures and events in Australia throughout the year. These are available both to ASA travellers and all interested members of the public.
Some general lectures describe our tours and the themes they address. Others present general treatments of the history, art and architecture, archaeology, etc., of the many regions and countries we visit. Some lecture series, hosted by partner institutions like the University of Western Australia Extension, will at times be found on our website.
- The new 'ASA International Scholar Series' will commence in March 2012. For this special series ASA will bring one or more experts of international repute to Australia to give public lectures in their particular fields. We are pleased to welcome:
- • Dr Don Evely, Curator, British School of Athens at Knossos, Crete; and
- • Dr Erin Gibson, a Landscape Archaeologist, with interest in past human activity in the Eastern Mediterranean
- Past ASA travellers may already know Erin and Don. Erin, has been a tour lecturer for ASA for many years including the Turkey: Ages of Anatolia tour since 2005; while Don first joined ASA in 2011 as a guest lecturer at Knossos, on the Islands in Time: Cyprus, Crete and Santorini program. This lecture series will visit Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Hobart and Perth.
ASA also organises occasional events such as dinners featuring special speakers, walking tours and day or weekend excursions to galleries, exhibitions, houses and gardens, etc.
ASA lectures and events occur in selected cities at particular times of the year. We regularly have new lectures and events to tell you about, so please visit this section of our website regularly to check on updates..
